QUESTIONS
What does it feel like?
Acupuncture needles are usually as fine as a hair and very different from needles conventionally used to give injections or take blood. Sensation can range from a light buzzing, to a dragging or slight ache. The reality is, the more compromised you are, the more you may feel from the needles. Focusing on your breath in conjunction with relaxing your body will speed up the needles action of opening up the natural movement of the body.
How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments vary from person to person, according to their diagnosis and the severity of their health issues. Often longtime conditions take longer to treat, but this isn’t always the case. Sometimes symptoms disappear quickly after treatment, but it is more common for them to gradually change and improve over time as the course of treatment progresses. The goal is to have longer intervals between treatments, with your body eventually maintaining its own internal balance without continual treatment.
What’s a treatment like?
At your first visit, we will discuss in detail your current symptoms and medical history. I then make a comprehensive Chinese Medical diagnosis after an assessment of your individual structural, internal and emotional health. The focus is on you as an individual, not just your disease or symptoms.
Treatment plan and points will then be selected. The points chosen to place the needles might not be in the area of your body where your symptoms occur. If needed, an herbal formula may be advised, either in raw herb form or capsules.
